Secunderabad-Raxaul Exp derails near Butibori; passengers safe
The trolley of coach S-9 derailment took place when the train was moving at snail’s pace and hence, was halted soon
Nagpur: Passengers of Secunderabad-Raxual Express had a lucky escape after three wheels of a trolley of coach S-9 derailed near the Butibori yard around 7.30am on Wednesday.
Sources from Central Railways (CR) told TOI that the derailment took place when the train was moving at snail’s pace and hence, was halted soon. Passengers, who were asleep, experienced a slight jerk, but fortunately, none was injured.

Senior CR officials, including divisional railway manager, Somesh Kumar, rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Railway spokesperson and assistant commercial manager (ACM) SG Rao said the reason behind the derailment is unclear. “We are investigating the cause of the accident. However, the rerailment of the train was done in a record 26 minutes. Nearly 1400-1500 passengers were on board and all were safe. Our doctors were also present at the accident site as well as the Nagpur railway station to provide medical assistance to passengers,” said Rao.
After coach S-9 was detached, passengers and their belongings were shifted to other coaches. Food and water were also provided to the passengers. The accident relief train also reached the site soon after the incident and rerailment was done. Initially, three front coaches were moved to Nagpur.
The remaining 16 coaches were later taken to Nagpur railway station at around 11.20am. Meanwhile, around 25 passengers were taken to Nagpur railway station by bus from Butibori. The train reached Nagpur station’s platform number 6 at around 11.50am.
Porters offered free service to the affected passengers. They quickly moved the luggage to the new bogie, a replacement for coach S-9.
The commercial staff, station staff and RPF personnel ensured that all the passengers got food. The entire restoration work was monitored by DRM Nagpur. The train left the station at around 12.20pm after a delay of over four hours.
