All prominent Buddhist temples in Kushinagar have been closed following the state government’s orders in view of coronovirus.

GORAKHPUR: All prominent Buddhist temples in Kushinagar have been closed following the state government’s orders in view of coronovirus.
Regional tourism officer Ravindra said, “All prominent Budhdhist sites in Kushinagar have been closed as visa is not being issued to foreign tourists.Thousands of devotees from countries like Japan, Korea, China, and others visit these temples.
This is the peak season of tourism and the closure has hit the industry.”
The temples which have been closed include Mahaparinirvan temple, Matha Kanwar Shrine and Ramabhar Stupa or Mukti Bandhan the place believed to be where Budhdha was cremated in 483BC.
Meanwhile, Gorakhpur district jail administration has decided to provide mask to all jail inmates. The masks will be prepared by the inmates and cloth for the same has been provided to the stitching department.
Dr Ramdhani, senior jail superintendent said, “The inmates undergo full medical check up before appearing in front of court and the visitors have also been directed to maintain a distance of at least two meters with the inmates. A task force has also been constituted to keep vigil.”
