    Coronavirus cases reported in Europe pass 100,000

    • The number of cases of the new coronavirus reported in Europe has surpassed 100,000, according to an AFP tally at 1700 GMT on Thursday.
    • Europe has at least 100,470 recorded infections, including 4,752 deaths, overtaking Asia with 94,253 cases and 3,417 deaths.
    • This number of diagnosed cases reflects only a fraction of the actual number of infections as many countries test only those with the most severe symptoms.

    • Along with a 47-year-old woman from Ulhasnagar in adjoining Thane district.

    • No positive case of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has been reported so far in Madhya Pradesh
    • Bus services from the capital city to Rajasthan and Maharashtra will be suspended from March 21 to prevent spread
    • So far, swab samples of 43 persons were sent for coronavirus testing, said a health department officer.
    • Of these, reports of 29 persons came out negative, while test details of the remaining 14 are awaited.
    • The MP government has already ordered closure of schools, cinema halls, museums and other establishment.

    • Italy braced on Thursday for an extended lockdown that could see the economy suffer its biggest shock since World War II.

    • China reported no new deaths for the first time on Thursday and Italy was on course to overtake its 3,245 fatalities later in the day.

    Timings of Delhi government's free disinfection drive for vehicles extended

    • The Delhi government has decided to conduct its free coronavirus disinfection drive for public service vehicles the "entire day".
    • Earlier, the drive was being carried out in two shifts -- 10am to 12pm and 4.30pm to 6.30pm -- at all DTC and cluster depots.
    • Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said, "The disinfection drive has received an overwhelming response due to which we have decided to extend it for the entire day. Our motive is to disinfect as many vehicles as possible."
    • The Delhi government has advised the owners or operators of public service vehicles to get their vehicles disinfected on a daily basis. However, it is not mandatory for all.
