23-year-old youth tests negative for coronavirus in Prayagraj

The 23-year-old youth who was admitted to an isolation ward after showing symptoms similar to novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Prayagraj tested negative for the infection on Thursday.

PRAYAGRAJ: The 23-year-old youth who was admitted to an isolation ward after showing symptoms similar to novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Prayagraj tested negative for the infection on Thursday.
The youth was rushed to the isolation ward at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital after he complained of cough and sore throat. The youth had been studying in Italian — one of the worst hit nations by novel coronavirus — and had landed in Prayagraj on March 8.
The youth is a resident of Govindpuri and his swab samples were sent to Lucknow’s King George’s Medical University (KGMU) on Wednesday.
The results of the test came back on Thursday.
Chief medical officer (Prayagraj) Dr Girja Shankar Bajpayee said, “The man, who returned from Italy on March 8, tested negative for novel coronavirus on Thursday. No Covid-19 cases have been reported from Prayagraj district till now.”
The CMO said that the department has sent four samples from the city to KGMU for testing in the past 14 days and all of them tested negative.
He urged citizens to wash their hands with soap and water at frequent intervals and use tissue paperd\ handkerchieves while sneezing or coughing.
