VADODARA: Transporter Bhanwarlal Gour, who had been involved in criminal activities in the past, was allegedly cheated by four persons of Rs 1.2 crore.
Gour, a resident of Nizampura, registered a complaint of cheating and forgery against Sujit Pathak, Ajay Shukla, Vinod Shukla and Manoj Shukla at Fatehgunj police station on Wednesday.
According to Gour, Pathak had introduced Ajay, Vinod and Manoj to him in October 2015.
Gour said that he knew Pathak as they both are from same community and the transporter is the president of the community. Ajay, Vinod and Manoj, who are natives of Mumbai, had told Gour that they are promoters of a Checklist Security and Management Pvt Ltd and they have received a sub-contract of construction activities at Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru from a London-based company. The trio showed an agreement of their company with a London-based firm and international bonds of the value of Rs 4,000 crore due to which Gour developed trust in them. They asked Gour to lend money to them without interest. Gour told police that since all of them were from his community, he agreed to give them money. Between February and July 2016, Gour paid the accused Rs 1.47 crore. Later, when asked them to return the money, Ajay returned Rs 27 lakh in August 2017 and promised to pay the remaining amount soon.
Later, on inquiring Gour learnt that the trio had cooked up the story of being sub-contractors and cheated him to borrow money from him so he approached police.
