VADODARA: The Mahakali temple at
Pavagadh will remain closed for devotees from Friday. The decision was taken both by the temple trust as well as the state government on Thursday.
The temple at Pavagadh is revered by many is one of the Shaktipeeths of the goddess. Devotees throng the temple in thousands from across the country throughout the year. It was expected that the temple would witness heavy rush during the Chaitri
Navratri that begins from March 25.
Shri
Kalika Mataji Mandir Trust that manages the temple had on Thursday decided that the temple will be closed from Sunday to March 31. However, the state government on Thursday issued directives that all major temples should be closed from Friday itself. Sources said that the temple trust too decided to follow the directives and would remain closed for devotees and visitors.
