Bihar: 20-year-old strangles sister to death in Bhagalpur

A 20-year old youth strangled his sister to death after he found her talking on a cell phone. The incident occurred at Jagdishpur village under the Jagdishpur police station area on Wednesday afternoon.

BHAGALPUR: A 20-year old youth strangled his sister to death after he found her talking on a cell phone. The incident occurred at Jagdishpur village under the Jagdishpur police station area on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident came to light when the accused himself informed the police control room by calling on 100. On getting information, Jagdishpur police station SHO Sanjay Kumar Satyarthi rushed to the spot and arrested the youth and initiated a probe.
Police sources said that Suraj is an intermediate dropout, while his deceased sister Nitu Kumari, was a student of Class XI at Project Girls School, Jagdishpur.
The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem.
Police sources said the incident occurred when both were alone at home. Suraj’s father Ratan Lal Jha, who works as a typist at Bhagalpur civil court, was in Bhagalpur and his mother Soni Devi had also gone out for some work. Ratan and Soni rushed home on being informed about the incident.
Jagdishpur police station SHO Satyarthi said, “According to Ratan, his son Suraj is mentally disturbed and used to stay at home most of the time. He strangled his sister in a fit of rage.”
“We are investigating the case from all angles. We are all also cross-examining the family members and local residents about the incident,” the SHO said.
