Patna: 19-year-old boy accused of raping minor girl

PATNA: Hours after a 19-year-old boy, Gyan Vishnu Arya, was sent to jail on Thursday on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl who was later found seven-month pregnant, the survivor reached the Women’s police station and claimed that she got pregnant after being raped by her maternal cousin in August last year.
Arya, who was living in a rented accommodation atn East Lohanipur under the Kadamkuan police station area here, was arrested on Tuesday night.The girl’s mother had lodged an FIR against Arya with Kadamkuan police station, accusing him of raping her daughter.
However, the rape survivor recorded her statement before a woman police officer posted at Women’s police station, alleging that it was her maternal cousin Deepak Kumar who had raped her in August last year and made her pregnant. The girl, however, said Arya had also raped her some days back.
SHO Arti Kumari Jaiswal said according to the rape survivor, Deepak is aged around 18 years. “The incident had taken place at the house of the girl’s maternal grandparents in Alamganj,” Jaiswal said, adding efforts were on to arrest Deepak.
However, SHO (incharge) of Kadamkuan police station Rakesh Kumar said the girl’s mother had accused only Arya of repeatedly raping her daughter. “During interrogation, Arya admitted that he had met the girl. However, he has denied raping the girl,” Kumar said, adding the girl’s statement before judicial magistrate was yet to be recorded.
