The Taj hotel, Lucknow, when contacted, did not give any official statement.

Before it was eventually suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the cricket boards of the two countries agreed upon playing out the 3-match ODI series as scheduled.

After the first match in Dharamsala got washed out, the remaining 2 ODIs on March 15 and March 18, which were earlier scheduled to be played behind closed doors in Lucknow and Kolkata, were indefinitely postponed.

The team then flew back home with a stopover in the then 'safest' city Kolkata to catch their connecting flight for Dubai.

"Everything is fine. Their rooms are all sanitised. Our liaison manager, medical team are also there in two rooms. They are all equipped with special masks, sanitiser. We have spoken to the players, they are fine," Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Avishek Dalmiya had said after the team's arrival in Kolkata.

After returning home, the South African players were asked to self-isolate themselves for a minimum of 14 days to ensure the safety of themselves and their close ones.
