Two brothers found dead in Madurai district

Two brothers were found dead in their house in a village near Vadipatti in Madurai district late on Saturday night. The cause of death is unknown, police said and added that they are investigating all angles.

MADURAI: Two brothers were found dead in their house in a village near Vadipatti in Madurai district late on Saturday night. The cause of death is unknown, police said and added that they are investigating all angles.
They were identified as P Vinothkumar, 30, and his brother P Sivakumar, 39, from Neerethan village. They had consumed liquor the whole day on Saturday and were found dead later in the night.
The bodies were shifted to Vadipatti government hospital, where postmortem was conducted.
Based on a complaint, a case was registered with the Vadipatti police station under CrPc 174 – suspicious death. Police suspect that they could have died due to food poisoning. However, they have not ruled out foul play and are pursuing all angles in the incident.
A police officer said that Sivakumar got married, while Vinothkumar was a bachelor. The two drank liquor purchased from a Tasmac shop on Saturday noon. They had rasam for lunch and then continued to consume liquor. Their bodies were recovered when other members of the house reached home. Based on an alert, a police team reached the house and conducted an inquiry.
Before death, the duo also had dysentery. The parts from intestine will be sent for lab testing after the postmortem. Based on the lab reports, further inquiry will be conducted, the police officer said.
