Sonbhadra land case: UP CM orders action against 21
LUCKNOW: Eight months after 11 Gond tribals were massacred in Sonbhadra over a land dispute, CM Yogi Adityanath on Monday approved action against 21 people. The accused include government officials who were involved in fraudulent land transfers in Umbha and Sapahi villages which led to the massacre on July 17.
Yogi ordered departmental action against 21 other officials and employees, since then transferred out of Sonbhadra district, including Ankit Agarwal, then DM, Vijay Prakash Tiwari, then SDM, Vijay Kumar Agarwal, assistant registrar of cooperative societies, Arun Dikshit, then ASP, and Rahul Mishra, Abhishek Singh and Gopal Krishna Singh, all DSPs, for negligence and dereliction of duty.

Yogi also ordered that Rs 1.09 crore, along with interest, be recovered from Asha Mishra, wife of a a retired IAS officer, and her daughter . This is the amount for which the two had sold the disputed land to the village pradhan.
