Agra: Three sent to jail for misbehaving with police when asked to stay indoor during lockdown

AGRA: Three youth were sent to jail on Wednesday after they were caught for misbehaving with on duty cops, who found trio along with two other person out in open amid the complete lockdown due to coronavirus scare.
All the five accused identified as Mayank, Pushpender Singh, his mother Sharda Devi, Rahul and Luv Kumar were booked under IPC sections 147 (riot), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), based on the written complaint of sub inspector Ranjeet Singh.

According to FIR, “On Tuesday at around 4:15 pm, police team spotted Mayank, Pushpender, Rahul and Luv Kumar standing on road near Sarla Bagh extension. When police confronted the group, to stay indoor and wear mask in order to avoid coronavirus infection, the youths refused to follow the precaution and order.”
“Later, the group incited the local residents to gather against cops, following which police had to detained the youths,” read the FIR.
Umesh Tripathi, station house officer of New Agra said, “Our team arrested Mayank, Pushpender and Rahul. On Wednesday after presenting to court, the three were sent to jail.”
SSP Agra Babloo Kumar said, “For violating lockdown, the IPC section 188 does not force us to send anyone jail, but for misbehaving with on duty cops, prohibiting him in executing duty and engaging in violence will attract IPC sections which will lend anyone in jail.”
