PRAYAGRAJ: Keeping in view the gravity of the situation arising out of the
coronavirus outbreak, the court work in
Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow judicature will remain suspended till further orders.
Besides, all district courts across the state, all commercial courts, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal and Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and
Resettlement Authorities across the state shall also remained closed till further orders, ordered Chief
Justice Govind Mathur on Wednesday.
However, the remands and bails of arrested person shall be done as per holiday practice, the
notification further ordered.
However, imminently and urgent cases would be heard by the designated division bench/single judge with the prior approval of Chief Justice.
For Lucknow Bench, necessary approval for hearing of urgent cases shall be obtained from senior judge, Lucknow, the notification further ordered.
According to high court administration, the decision was taken as part of precautionary and remedial measures keeping in view the gravity of the situation arising due to outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Initially, through a notification dated March 18, it was directed that the high court at Allahabad and Lucknow will remained closed from March 19 to March 21.
Subsequently, through another notification dated March 21, it was provided that high courts at Allahabad and Lucknow will continue to remain closed from March 23 to March 25 for the purpose of taking preventive and remedial measures to combat the threat of coronavirus.
Later, a notification was again issued by the high court on March 23, stating that in continuation of the earlier notification, the high court at Allahabad and its Lucknow Bench will further remain close till March 28.
