AHMEDABAD: With total positive cases for Covid-19 reaching 44 in Gujarat, the state witnessed two deaths in the last 24 hours. While an 85-year-old lady woman succumbed to the virus in Ahmedabad, a 70-year-old man with comorbid conditions died of the ailment in Bhavnagar.

So far, 15 positive cases have been reported from Ahmedabad while seven each have been reported from Surat and Gandhinagar. While eight cases have been reported from Vadodara and five from Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Kutch have registered one case each.

Meanwhile, as the lockdown settles in, the administrative response to it is assuming a humane face in Ahmedabad, with the municipal corporation, police, voluntary organisations and people standing up to the challenge.

To ensure supplies across the city, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has procured about 100 e-rickshaws and involved women’s self-help groups to supply vegetables to housing societies.
