A patient undergoing dialysis at GMERS, Gotri
Vadodara: The much-needed ventilators started arriving at the GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Gotri. The isolation wards at the GMERS, Gotri and the SSG Hospital have also been equipped with dialysis facilities now.
The dialysis unit at GMERS, Gotri was brought, installed and made functional by the early hours on Thursday. A patient who had tested positive for COVID-19 was admitted at the hospital and became the first patient to undergo dialysis.
Sources said that the patient had come in close contact with a doctor actively involved in public life too.
The doctor was also tested for the novel coronavirus and the tests were negative. The patient had undergone dialysis at a private facility in the city and three persons who had come in close contact with him had to be quarantined.
Five ventilators have arrived at the isolation facility at GMERS, Gotri and 10 others had been identified and were to reach the hospital. The officials are trying to ensure that 50 more ventilators reach the hospital soon.
So far 42 persons have been kept at the quarantine centre on Ajwa road. These include 32 from Vadodara municipal limits and 10 from outside the city.
