Coronavirus: Third man from Odisha tests positive, govt asks people not to visit hospital where he was treated

Odisha government on Thursday asked people not to visit a particular hospital after it came to light that a patient, who tested positive for Covid-19, was treated there.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha government on Thursday asked people not to visit a particular hospital after it came to light that a patient, who tested positive for Covid-19, was treated there.
The 60-year-old man from Bhubaneswar is third from Odisha to test positive for Covid-19 and is the first man who doesn’t have a recent travel history to any foreign country.

“Based on the contact history of the third positive case, Health Department urges people not to visit Kar Clinic Bhubaneswar for outpatient and inpatient care,” the health department twitted from its official handle.
“In spite of repeated advisory, some private health care facilities are not complying with the Covid-19 Regulations. Government urges them to act responsibly and follow the regulations while treating patients with flu like symptoms. Non compliance shall be viewed seriously,” the health department twitted.
Preliminary findings by the government shows the man did not travel abroad but had recently travelled to Delhi and Haryana. The man had initially was admitted in the private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was shifted to the isolation facility of a government hospital after showing the Covid-19 symptoms on Thursday.
The government authorities said they have started tracing all the contacts including the private hospital doctor and nurses who treated him besides the man’s family members. The government asked people not to panic but follow the lockdown advisory more strictly.
Earlier, a 31-year-old man with travel history to Italy and another 20-year-old who returned from UK have tested positive. Their condition is asymptomatic and stable, the government authorities said. As many as 34 persons are in hospital isolation in the state for suspected symptoms.
