A woman fled after throwing her three children into a well in Pindari village under the limits of Bijpur police station in Sonbhadra district on Wednesday night.

VARANASI: A woman fled after throwing her three children into a well in Pindari village under the limits of Bijpur police station in Sonbhadra district on Wednesday night.
Two of the children died while one was rescued by the villagers. SP Sonbhadra Ashish Srivastava said that police are searching for the woman after sending the bodies for postmortem. The girl, who survived, was given under the custody of her grandparents.
According to sources, at around 11pm Devanti (30) knocked the doors of her neighbour Rampyare told him that her two children had died after falling into the well while one was alive.
Before Rampyare could understand anything Devanti fled the scene. When Rampyare looked inside the well he noticed cries of a child after which he raised an alarm.
A local youth entered the well with a help of a rope and rescued the girl- Anu (6). The bodies of her siblings- Anuj (3) and Dipanshu (1) were also recovered from the well. Later, police reached the incident site. Anu informed police that Devanti threw all the three kids into the well. Initial investigation revealed that Devanti’s husband Vijay Gond was employed in Chennai and had not returned home for past 10 months.
