Kolkata: Fire breaks out at CESC substation at Patuli

Fire broke out at a Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) substation in Patuli at around 5:30 pm on Friday at Baghajatin area, following which the locality had no power supply.

KOLKATA: Fire broke out at a Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) substation in Patuli at around 5:30 pm on Friday at Baghajatin area, following which the locality had no power supply.
Six power tenders were pressed into action and within a short period of time and the fire was brought under control.
Fire officials said that they had a tough time to bring the fire under control. There was panic soon among residents in Baghajatin area.
Soon PWD minister Aroop Biswas reached the spot to oversee the fire control.
However locals claimed that no power was there till 7.30 pm. Police said that a probe would be held to ascertain the cause of fire.
There was panic as people who are lockdown tried to came out of the houses amid darkness for which police warned them not to stop out.The power disruption went on for several areas. The CESC are trying to restore power supply.
