HYDERABAD: Ten Telugu students, who went to pay their college fee in Agra, are stranded there following the lockdown in the aftermath of the coronavirus scare. The students are desperate to come back.
They also complained they are not being allowed to come out of their rented flat, but UP police finally got them food on Friday.
Speaking to TOI over phone, Shiva Reddy of Karimnagar said ten of them were stuck in a single flat in Kalindi Vihar without access to food.
“Whatever little food available outside is exorbitantly priced,” he said.
All of them are students of RB PG College and are in various stages of completing BSc (Agriculture). “We came here about a month ago to pay our fee after the exams got over, but have not been able to leave the city since then,” said the 20-year-old Reddy.
The students are also facing language issues. The students, who are fluent in Telugu, are ill at ease in the Hindi heartland, unable to express what they need. Mami Sekhar, a native of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, said language was an issue for them. Sekhar is in his degree third year.
Nagaraju of Warangal said they booked the train tickets for March 24, which got cancelled. “Some of our friends were lucky enough to travel out on March 17, but we were not able to get tickets.” Sounding desperate, Nagaraju said: “All we want is to head back home.”
