KOLKATA: The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation’s Covid-19 coordination committee has taken up several steps to combat the novel coronavirus attack in Salt Lake and Rajarhat. From Friday, civic authorities have started using two sprinkler vehicles — one for Salt Lake and the other for Rajarhat — to spray disinfectant on roads across 41 wards for the next 15 days.
They are giving more importance to market places where hospital, healthcare centres and police stations are located. The vehicles will be allotted ward wise.
For the narrow lanes where these vehicles cannot enter, civic health workers will carry the disinfectant chemical on a knapsack and spray on drains, ponds and road-side corners.
The civic authorities have allotted two ambulances, one each for Salt Lake and Rajarhat to take suspected Covid-19 patients to hospitals. Two hearses have also been arranged, if the suspects die. Drivers and attendants of these ambulances and hearses have been provided with necessary equipment for protection. The civic authorities also received some gloves and sanitisers from the state health department for distribution to health workers.
