KORAPUT: The Rayagada district administration on Friday facilitated the return of 18 pilgrims of Chhattisgarh, who had arrived in the district from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, but had failed to proceed due to the lockdown.
Official sources said the pilgrims from Nandgaon village under Mahasamund district in Chhattigarh had arrived in Kerada village on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, in Rayagada district with much difficulty.

From Kerada, they had travelled around 35 km on auto-rickshaw to reach the border of Rayagada town.
“Health examination of pilgrims was carried out by our rapid response team. As they desired to return home, they were sent to their village in four special vehicles,” said collector (Rayagada) Pramod Kumar Behera.
According to the collector, details of the pilgrims will be sent to his counterpart in Raipur and the pilgrims have been asked to remain in home quarantine for 14 days.
The administration has taken all necessary steps to ensure that the migrant labourers of other states stuck in the district are provided with food and shelter.
