AHMEDABAD: Many of us have got a WhatsApp message that says people feel like they are in Big Boss house during this period of lockdown announced by the government to fight coronavirus. Sola police of the city have made it a bit more real by deploying drone cameras to keep a watch on people's movements.
Sola police have hired three cameras from private parties to keep a vigil on people's movements and restrict gathering of more than four persons.
Police commissioner Ashish Bhatia has imposed section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code, which restricts assembly of more than four persons in the city.
"Cops of Sola police station are keeping a close watch over you with drone cameras. Please do not think that you can escape legal action if you are sitting in a garden or moving in an internal lane. If you are in the assembly of five people, then you will face action. If you are caught violating the law by our drone cameras, then you will be booked. Mind well, this drone cameras may fly over you any time." police said. This is an announcement being made by Sola police in Gota, Thaltej, Sola, some parts of SG Road and Chandlodia.
Inspector JP Jadeja of Sola police said, "We will capture violators from their housing societies. We have started this exercise from today onwards and will continue it to restrict people's movements."
Jadeja said this will help put psychological pressure on people. "If they know drone cameras can anytime catch them violating the law, they will themselves stop moving out of their homes to meet others,"
