One new coronavirus-related death, nearly 30 new confirmed cases reported in Maine
The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Saturday one new coronavirus-related death in the state and nearly 30 new confirmed cases.A total of 56 Mainers have now died of the virus. The new reported death was a woman in her 80s from Waldo County.There are 1,152 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maine, an increase of 29 from Friday.The number of confirmed cases is likely an under-representation of the actual amount of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested.The Maine CDC said 689 people have recovered from the virus, an increase of 32 from Friday.Taking away reported deaths and patients who have recovered, there are 407 active cases of the virus in Maine, which a decrease of four from Friday.A total of 258 Maine health care workers have tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began.According to the Maine CDC website, 36 Mainers are hospitalized with the virus and 19 are in intensive care. Ten people are on ventilators.Of the state's 320 ICU beds, 160 are available. Of the state's 315 ventilators, 290 are available. There are 395 alternative ventilators available.
