My plea to the mainstream media: please be honest about your hatred for President Trump.

I don’t expect the truth when the New York Times half-quotes the President’s coronavirus conference calls.

I don’t expect the truth when Chuck Todd rants about how the President is privately reacting to the pandemic. (Spoiler: Todd’s “sources” say Trump is panicking!)

I don’t expect the truth when Brian Stelter fact-checks the President’s “false” hope.

But for the sake of our sanity, please be truthful about one fact. A fact that is so painfully obvious that it feels ridiculous and insulting to ignore it. The mainstream media want nothing more than to watch Trump crash and burn.

The majority of Americans have accepted this.

Fake News — it is time you do the same. In Trump Derangement Rehab, the first step is admitting you have a problem. It is time for the Democrats with press passes to face the reality that yes, they are actively rooting against the President. And they have been since long before he took office.

The media has sided with Al Baghdadi, Communist China, and MS-13 members over the President. Sure it is a sad state of affairs, but denying it doesn’t do us any good.

After a hoax, a fake Russian pee dossier, a failed impeachment, and hundreds of fake news stories in between — most of us have come to grips with the disturbing truth.

What is much harder to tolerate than that truth is the theatrics. Egocentric reporters are constantly performing stale Mickey-the-Dunce routines every time they are called out for their bias.

The most recent example was when CBS News’ Paula Reid asked Trump if his Coronavirus/Easter timeline was based on his re-election interests.

Trump snapped back, “I think there are certain people that would like it to do financially poorly because they think that would be very good as far as defeating me at the polls … there are people in your profession that would like that to happen, I think it’s very clear.”

This garnered plenty of artificial astonishment from the elites at CNN and MSNBC. He thinks WE hate him? They clutched their pearls and feigned offense.

Us? The media? He really thinks we are rooting against him?

Gloria Borger told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that the entire idea was outrageous. “He went after the news media, making the point that, you know, we’d like to see them do poorly in the election, so we’re rooting against him in this crisis, and that’s so ridiculous. We should almost not even dignify it, honestly.”

Mollie Hemingway summarized the current state of denial by the press with this tweet: “Big ‘addicts who think they’re fooling their friends and family’ vibe going on with our media these days.”

According to these addicts, we are the crazy ones.

However, most people watching Trump’s press conferences from their quarantined couches over the last two weeks do not see his observation as ridiculous. It makes sense why the Peter Alexanders of the press corps think people would fall for their fraudulent performances. After all, we are the credulous boomer rubes.

And yet, despite lacking the intellect possessed by the Don Lemon panel pundits of the world, us average Americans are still able to pick up on the palpable animosity the press has for Trump. The media should, for once, level with us.

President Trump is a lot of things. He is far from perfect. Most of his supporters would be the first ones to tell you this. But one thing he doesn’t lack is candor.

Whether Trump likes you or hates you — you won’t be left wondering how he feels. In fact, he often openly tells Jim Acosta (to his face), that he does not like him. Is it Presidential? No. But damn, is it refreshing.

Brian Stelter, Chuck Todd and Jake Tapper fake offense at the accusation that they root against the President. Meanwhile, their Twitter accounts suggest it is the only thing they do. Their Twitter feeds are full of retweeted think pieces and blue-check threads that center around how Trump is evil incarnate.

Fear not, on rare occasion their tweets show a glimmer of happiness. In late February as the economy crashed, Paul Krugman tweeted with glee, “Dow 25,000!”

This week the media went into a tizzy as they eagerly reported on the unprecedented unemployment numbers.

Julie Ioffe, from GQ Magazine, retweeted an article about the increasing cases of coronavirus with the caption, “Who’s the ****hole country now?”

But again, let’s not assume they are reveling in the political repercussions this pandemic could have on Orange Man.

If you watch the coronavirus briefings and can’t pick up on the hostile tone of their questions, look for the disdainful look on their faces.

I don’t know how long it will take for the media to realize the jig is up. But based on their approval ratings, it has been up for quite some time.
