The Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, has issued instructions for making proper arrangements for all those who will be quarantined.

"No one in the state should remain hungry during the lockdown," the chief minister was quoted as saying.

The district magistrates have been provided the contact details of all these people who have arrived in Uttar Pradesh in the last three days, agencies reported.

“We have asked all the district magistrates to ensure that the workers returning to UP from other states are quarantined at home compulsorily. Under this, the local authorities put up a notice at the gates of the residence of a person in quarantine or at the gates of their respective housing society. Village pradhans in about 60,000 village panchayats have been sensitised by the chief minister’s office and they are also informed about the person to be quarantined,” a Hindustan Times report quoted principal secretary, medical and health, Amit Mohan Prasad as saying.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath have appealed to the people not to leave their respective homes and obey the quarantine restrictions which are in place for 21 days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all Indians to obey the 21-day lockdown that came into place on the intervening night of March 24-25. In his Mann ki Baat address, the Prime Minister asked for forgiveness of all those who are facing difficulties due to the lockdown.
