Coronavirus: 28 new cases reported in Maharashtra, tally reaches 181

Maharashtra recorded 28 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 181. Six people have died so far in the state. The 85 year-old doctor from Mumbai who died on Friday tested positive for the coronavirus today. There are five other people who are in critical condition.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra recorded 28 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 181. Six people have died so far in the state. The 85 year-old doctor from Mumbai who died on Friday tested positive for the coronavirus today. There are five other people who are in critical condition.
Of the fresh cases in the state, 22 are from Mumbai, 2 are from Nagpur, 4 are from Palghar, Vasai-Virar and Navi Mumbai region.

The state government on Saturday announced that the Mahatma Phule Jan Aarogya scheme will cover treatment of Covid-19 positive patients as well. Health minister Rajesh Tope said with the inclusion of coronavirus in the scheme, the patients will get cashless treatment in over 1,000 hospitals across the state from April 1. Currently, there are 492 private hospitals covered under the scheme and from April 1 the number of participating hospitals will go up to 1,000 from April 1, said Tope.
Tope also said that nearly 2,000 ventilators that are in the hospitals will be used in these schemes will also be for the government to use.
"Even as the number of patients are going up , there are also patients who are getting treated and are being discharged. A total of 19 patients were discharged as on today,"said Tope.
Of the 181 positive cases, 104 are asymptomatic.
