NAGPUR: A day after Jaripatka man tested positive, his 12-year-old elder daughter and paralyzed elder brother too were confirmed to have contracted Covid-19 on Sunday. His daughter is the youngest person to have contracted the disease in the city.
On Saturday, a 17-year-old had tested positive. The city's tally stands at 13 now.
Divisional commissioner Sanjeev Kumar said, "A 12-year-old girl and her paralyzed uncle admitted at the GMCH have tested positive."
There were also unconfirmed reports of a third person testing positive.
But, Kumar said it was not confirmed and details are awaited from Mayo Hospital which has the region's testing centre.
On Sunday, NMC again started tracing suspects who came in close contact of the latest two patients.
The girl, admitted to Mayo, and her uncle were among 30 suspects, including 16 from Jaripatka, tested on Saturday. The uncle, elder brother of Jaripatka man, is admitted to GMCH after he suffered a paralysis attack three days ago. He was initially taken to general ward of GMCH and before that to nearby Janata Hospital.
The family had not disclosed that the younger brother (the 32-year-old shop assistant from Jaripatka) was a suspect, who later became the 10th Covid-19 patient on Saturday.

Before the paralysis attack, the younger brother's swab had been taken.
Several doctors and paramedical, working without safety kits in general ward and casualty, are now believed to have been exposed to the coronavirus.
The youngest patient's grandfather, mother and younger sister, aged around 5, tested negative. The NMC had taken 14 suspects including this for tests on Saturday.
The NMC has also initiated a containment drive in 3km radius of the Jaripatka man's residence. The drive was focussed in his area on Saturday with fire tender spraying disinfenctant in all lanes and rooftop of homes in his neighborhood.
There was some confusion regarding the age of the lastest case. while the district information officer stated that "an 11-year-old female was tested postive", NMC officials said she was 12 year-old.
The NMC officials have been entrusted with ferrying all suspects to Mayo hostipal for testing and recording all there details. Hence, TOI chosen to go with the age reported by NMC staff.
