Amreli police turn good Samaritans for poor
Rajkot: The poor, the pavement dwellers and the labourers stuck due to the lockdown in Amreli district don't have to sleep empty stomach, thanks to an initiative by the Amreli district police.
The officials of the Amreli police are reaching out to the poor living in remote villages of the district to provide them with meals on daily basis.
“These are people we need to take care of.
If there is a person with learning difficulties nearby then we don’t forget to feed him or her,” said Nirlipt Rai, Amreli superintendent of police.
“Generally the poor get the leftover food from restaurants which now are closed due to the lockdown. They have nowhere to go. We are taking care of these people. We are also taking care of people with learning difficulties,” added Rai.
