FIR against Muzaffarpur labour superintendent

Muzaffarpur district magistrate has ordered to lodge an FIR against the district labour superintendent for not only defying the orders of the state government in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak but also for his misconduct with serving public servants.

PATNA: Muzaffarpur district magistrate has ordered to lodge an FIR against the district labour superintendent for not only defying the orders of the state government in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak but also for his misconduct with serving public servants.
The FIR has been lodged with the Town police station at Muzaffarpur under sections 2,3,4 of Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
City SP Neeraj Kumar Singh confirmed that the FIR was lodged against the labour superintendent on the directive of the DM.
In addition, the DM, Chandra Shekhar Singh, has recommended suspension of the labour superintendent, Vivek Kumar, and initiate a departmental proceedings against him for remaining absent in an official meeting to assess the situation. “Vivek is staying in Patna ever since lockdown announced in the state on March 23. He didn’t attend the meeting held on Saturday to review the situation and told the officials concerned that he wouldn’t come to Muzaffarpur come what may,” the DM added.
According to a letter sent to the labour department, copies of which have also been addressed to the commissioner of Tirhut division, the labour superintendent was deputed at the control room on the Sadar hospital premises to monitor the return of migrant labourers to Bihar from outside the state.
The DM said that Vivek left the district headquarters without any prior approval and had not applied for leave. “The official leaves of the government employees have been cancelled . But the labour superintendent continues to stay in Patna without sanctioned leave,” he added.
