Following the Centre’s order to seal state borders to stop the movement of migrants, Rajasthan’s ACS (home) Rajeeva Swarup sent out a video on Sunday in which he appealed to the migrant workers and those planning to travel to other states to stay where they are.
“I appeal to everyone to stay where you are and the state government will take care of you. I also want to say that all state borders will be sealed tonight so you will not be able to enter other states,” he said in the video.
Swarup also said that all migrants will be in quarantine for two weeks. He said that no contractor can fire a labourer and would pay them in full. In case someone is abandoned or homeless, the state government will ensure that they don’t go hungry. In the video, Swarup appealed to the locals that they should also be vigilant if someone in their neighbourhood has come from outside the state so that they can be screened for the virus.
