MUMBAI: A Chembur couple was duped of over Rs 1 lakh while placing an order for liquor online on March 24 during the ongoing lockdown.
A 42-year-old woman filed a complaint with the Tilak Nagar police on March 27 alleging that her husband shared her card details for the online transaction with a wine shop service that offered to do home delivery and was cheated of Rs 1.03 lakh.

The victim found the mobile number of the wine shop service online. The seller asked them to pay Rs 3,000 for the online purchase and sought an OTP. On sharing it, Rs 30,000 was deducted from the victim’s account.
When the victim called the shop, he was told that the amount was deducted by mistake and was offered a refund for which another OTP was sought and given. The OTP was sought six times to return the money and Rs 1.03 lakh was deducted.” On calling the service, they were told that the delivery cannot be done and the payment had to be done using another card.
