According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Texas Tech assistant coach Brian Burg will be the next head coach at Georgia Southern.

Burg was promoted to assistant coach in 2018 after spending 2016-18 as Texas Tech’s Chief of Staff. Since 2003, Burg has coached college basketball in some capacity and has worked under head coach Chris Beard since 2015-16 as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
The biggest skill Burg brings to the table is his elite recruiting ability. His peers rank him as one of the best recruiters in the country according to his Texas Tech bio.
Georgia Southern went 20-13 last season under head coach Mark Byington, who resigned on Mar. 20 to accept a head coaching job at James Madison.
