A sinister letter has warned the people of Liverpool not to make the same mistakes as Italy who are currently in "coronavirus hell".

Daniela Visone penned the message to Merseyside after the death toll in her home country rose about 10,000 from COVID-19.

The 44-year-old, whose mum and brother still live in Whiston, said she was scared for her family and everyone in Liverpool as Italy enters its sixth week of lockdown.

She also warned that the European countries graveyards are full after people did not take restrictions seriously.

Speaking to the ECHO, mum-of-two Daniela said: "What Britain is facing now is what we faced two weeks ago.

"People didn’t take it seriously and still went out enjoying the sun, going for a run or meeting members of their family and silently they didn’t know they were spreading the virus and passing it on to their vulnerable family members.

“I used to travel from Whiston to Liverpool every day for work and I know how busy trains are, public transportation needs to stop operating.

“Far too many people are dying here and we cannot give them a last goodbye either.

Deserted Liverpool on lockdown.

"Graveyards are full so people are getting buried in different cemetery cities.

“Small and big firms have started to produce reusable face masks as many people don’t have any at all.

"They give them out for free, as we are all in this situation we must help one another.”

Daniela moved to the UK when she was 14 and didn't speak a word of English.

She did her GCSEs at St Edmund Arrowsmith School in Whiston then A Levels at Carmel College, St Helens before studying at John Moores University.

She said she cries every night over her fears for her family in the city and has asked people to stay at home where possible.

Explaining her concerns, Daniela said: "My mother is a COPD patient, she is living in Whiston with my brother who obviously has to go to work and he cannot wear a face mask in work as they won’t allow him, so he can easily catch Covid-19 and pass it on to my mother.

“I think people who are living with vulnerable people should be able to stay at home.

Liverpool is currently in lockdown but an Italian woman has warned things could get much worse

“I have two young children who are missing their nan a lot, we see each other via video every day and it’s just so hard as we don’t know when, if ever, we will see each other again.

“Last time I saw my mother was mid-January, I just cannot imagine my life without her.”

Daniela said she wanted to get in touch with the ECHO because Liverpool is her home.

She ended her letter with one final powerful message: “Please stay at home. We can all fight this.

“Don’t make the same mistakes that Italy did at the beginning.”
