PUNE: Police have started using drone cameras to monitor the movement of people in the semi-urban belts of the Nanded City area, Baramati, Wagholi, Lonavala and Loni Kalbhor to monitor people’s movement during the lockdown period in the wake of the coronavius outbreak.
“The surveillance will continue till April 14 and people violating the lockdown rules will be caught,” superintendent of police (Pune Rural) Sandeep Patil said.

The officer said the use of the drones would reduce the burden of police personnel deployed on patrolling duty. “A police team will be immediately sent to the spot in case of any violation recorded on the drone cameras. We will take appropriate action against the violators,” Patil said.
Two days ago, the Gujarat police had started keeping an eye on different areas through drones fitted with high-definition cameras. The police monitored citizens roaming in narrow lanes or common plots in residential colonies with the help of the drones and booked the violators.
