10 fresh coronavirus cases in Karnataka, total touches 98

BENGALURU: Ten new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Karnataka as on Tuesday morning, taking the total number of the infected in the state to 98.
While three of these cases are from Hospet in Ballari district, two each are from Bengaluru and Mysuru, and one each from Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Chikkaballapura districts. Three of the 10 new patients are women, including two from Hospet.
Only three of the 10 have travelled abroad.
Three of the other seven are primary contacts of positive cases.
The three Hospet patients have neither any travel history abroad nor are contacts of known positive patients. They include a 52-year-old man, and two women aged 48 and 26 years. They are all labourers who had come to Bengaluru on March 16. Currently they are in an isolated ward of a designated hospital in Ballari.
“Their contacts tracing and detailed investigation is under process,” said health department authorities.
The third woman to test positive is a 40-year-old Gauribidanur in Chikkaballapur district. She too has had no travel history nor was she a primary contact of a known Covid-19 positive patient.
The two Bengaluru patients include a 19-year-old who had returned to Bengaluru from New York on March 22. He is currently availing treatment in a hospital in Bengaluru.

Maid’s family too affected
The second Bengaluru patient is a 40-year-old man is the family member of a 35-year-old domestic help who had tested positive earlier. This woman herself happened to be the primary contact of a man who had arrived from London on March 13 and tested positive on March 22. The domestic help tested positive on March 27.
The London returnee’s son and security guard had already tested positive earlier and are under treatment.
The two Mysureans, aged 35 and 41 years, are the primary contacts of a 35-year-old pharmaceutical company employee from Najanagud who had tested positive earlier. Both don’t have a travel history abroad. With this the total number of cases in Mysuru has gone up to 14.
Two Dubai returnees, a 34-year-old-man from Dakshina Kannada and a 26-year -old-man from Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada, are also among the 10 fresh cases.
