Coronavirus: 50 people from Ambala linked to Delhi Nizamuddin event being monitored

AMBALA: In a search operation conducted at the mosques of Ambala, by district administration and the Haryana health department, around 50 persons have been kept under surveillance in a hospital, quarantine facilities and mosques in Ambala on Tuesday.
"Some of these persons have a connection to the Markaz organised recently at the Nizamuddin area in Delhi, which is emerging as the epicenter for Covid-19 and others are their family members", told Ambala civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.

Dr Kuldeep said, “On Tuesday, during a search operation in Ambala, several persons of other states have been identified and kept under surveillance. These persons include 8 of Nepal, 10 of Tamil Nadu, 16 of Bhiwandi in Maharashra (MH), 1 of Assam, 1 of Sri Lanka and some of the other places”
"Out of these, 4 persons including 2 of Nepal, 1 of Sri Lanka and 1 of Bhiwandi, MH who seemed to be high risk cases have been isolated at the hospitals in Ambala, as they showed some symptoms of coronavirus and their samples would be sent for clinical examination. Moreover 8 among these persons have been quarantined and kept under the observation of our health teams at a quarantine facility in Ambala”, told Dr Kuldeep Singh.
“Apart from 4 persons in isolation and 8 persons under quarantine; all the others are under kept under surveillance at different places in Ambala and they will not be allowed to go out for 14 days”, told Dr Kuldeep.
When asked about when they visited Nizamuddin in Delhi, Dr Kuldeep told, “These persons had recently attended the Markaz at Nizamuddin in Delhi and due to suspicion of carrying coronavirus they have been kept under surveillance after a search operation.”
Ambala deputy commissioner (DC) Ashok Kumar Sharma said, “A search operation was conducted in at four places in Ambala and several suspected persons have been identified and kept under surveillance. The search is still ongoing.”
Ambala Cantonment DSP Ram Kumar said, “On Tuesday, we conducted a search at 3 places in Cantonment area and around 50 persons including some family members of those who recently visited Nizamuddin have been quarantined. Some of them who seems to be suspicious are being checked by the health teams.”
