Maharashtra: 22 migrant workers trying to flee to UP in tempo caught in Ulhasnagar, booked

KALYAN: Around 22 migrant labourers working in Ulhasnagar were caught on Tuesday for allegedly trying to escape to Uttar Pradesh in a tempo amid ongoing nationwide lockdown imposed for curbing the spread of coronavirus, police said.
The police have booked all 22 under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of Indian Penal Code. They have been shifted to Dharamshala in Ulhasnagar.

The driver of tempo had told the police that he was carrying vegitables, an official said. "The 22 migrant labourers work in jeans factories in Ulhasnagar. Due to coronavirus scare, they were trying to go to their native place situated in Kosambi district in Uttar Pradesh".
The police said during Naka bandi at Shanti Nagar area police deployed at the spot doubted driver and when they checked the tempo by opening the door they found migrant workers hiding inside. SC, Suradkar senior police inspector of Central police station said, "In truck we found labourers were not using masks and also social distancing was not maintained due to which we booked them by filing an FIR and we have kept them inside Dharmashala in city where all arrangements of food has been made".
