Mumbai: Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh went live on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, answering questions of citizens regarding the problems faced by them during the present lockdown period.

The questions varied from arranging travel for near and dear once ones who have been stuck on account of the lockdown, availability of fuel at petrol pumps, large assembly of people in certain areas, taking pets out for their walks to blatant flouting of the lockdown norms by bikers in some parts of the city. A bank employee sought the police's help in stopping his imminent eviction from the housing society.

Here are highlights from the Twitter interaction:

Q: I am a dialysis patient and have to go to hospital three times a week. I go in my car. Will I get petrol in case it runs low?

A. Petrol pumps are operating as usual.

Q: My mother lives alone in Vasai and is aged 75. I want to get her to my residence in Goregaon. She is very scared to stay alone and often sobbing. Any way I can get her in my car?

A. Travel is not permitted as per lockdown orders. Please take help from her neighbours.

Q. But petrol pump employees are not refueling our vehicles. They are saying we have been asked to only give petrol/diesel to essential commodities vehicles carrying passes. Kindly allow refueling at least once during the lockdown period or a fixed amount of petrol/diesel.

A. All vehicles have to be re-fuelled. There are no such orders stating only essential commodities vehicles to be refuelled.

Q. I am a doctor. Do I need to have an essential service pass if I have to travel to my clinic for an emergency?

A. Your doctor’s id should be enough. In case of any inconvenience please dial 100.

Q. At Andheri (west) Gilbert Hill Road near Green Tower at least 100 people gather from morning until night . Once the Police goes they again come outside. Please sir its a big risk and I tried to explain but they are dangerous people.

A. Local police station has been instructed to monitor the situation. It will also be monitored through CCTV cameras and necessary action is being taken.

Q Are senior citizens who are staying alone with medical condition allowed to travel with relevant documents? It seems that the police at Dahisar Check Naka are not allowing to cross under any circumstances. Please help!

A. In a medical emergency travel is permitted to your hospital/ clinic, and/or to the doctor.

Q. I am a Manager in a Bank due to which my Housing society is warning me to vacate. What can be done in this case?

A. Banking is an essential service. No one can force you to vacate. Please approach the local police station. Appropriate legal action will be taken.

Q. Is there any e-pass for Mumbai? Please let us know.

A. There is no e-pass system for Mumbai. All passes are being issued by local police stations.

Q. Sir still the lockdown is not very effective in some of the areas ,viz Mathuradas road at Kandivali (West) mostly in Sabzi Mandi area across Mumbai. What step u ll take on it ?

A. We are looking into it very seriously and it is being monitored by CCTVs, patrolling vans, and even drones. Also, strict action is being taken against violators.

Q. What's your message to migrant workers who want to go to their native places ?

A. Please stay put and do not leave. Government authorities along with NGOs are taking care of all their food and shelter requirements.

Q. Sir we are definitely staring at community spread in Mumbai in coming days and yet many people aren't taking it seriously. What measures will you be taking for that?

A. We are ensuring strict enforcement of the lockdown orders and legal action is being taken against those violating it. We request Mumbaikars to cooperate with us.

Q. Do policemen and women quarantine themselves after their duty? How do they take care of their own safety and their families? Like medical staff do they need to isolate themselves as well after duty as a precautionary measure? How safe are you all from getting infected?

A. All policemen personnel and their families are following the lockdown guidelines and health norms assiduously. They have been provided with adequate medical supplies and equipment to protect themselves from getting infected.

Q. People are complaining that many times they are unable to connect to 100. Is there any other number that can help people connect with Mumbai Police?

A. While there are enough lines to ensure that we attend maximum calls, we will certainly make sure that no calls go unattended. 100 is the best way to reach out to us.

Q. I am a pet owner. I need clarity on whether I can take my pet outside our building for its walk once a day. My pet becomes very restless sitting whole day inside the house.Police have been considerate of this in my locality till now and i appreciate it. Need clarity.

A. We suggest you avoid taking the pet.
