Artificial Intelligence drives Asia’s urban water treatment success

Thanks to rapidly-advancing technology and innovation, artificial intelligence (AI) is perceived as a key pillar of urban water treatment and Southeast Asia governments are now racing to establish the region as an artificial intelligence (AI) hub.

For example, Singapore launched its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and committed over 500 million dollars to fund activities related to AI under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2020 Plan.

The Philippines is working with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (ASITE) to prepare a roadmap which will position the country as an AI leader in Southeast Asia.

William Yong, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Water, Black & Veatch reflects on how Black & Veatch is helping Asian clients achieve their goals through AI and shares with Water & Wastewater Asia his insights on AI underlining Asia’s urban water treatment success.

“There will be a higher level of urgency in the region as it assesses opportunities to address water sustainability and security to meet the needs of rapidly growing populations and economies. One opportunity it will assess is the creation of digital twins, which enable predictive capabilities and intuitive decision support and intervention.”
