Cruise ships with sick passengers to dock in Florida

Cruise ships with sick passengers to dock in Florida
We've been at sea now for about 2.5 weeks without a place to dock from. It is discouraging and emotionally draining, especially knowing that at this point there is no resolution inside for our situation. Our understanding is that most people on both ships are healthy and doing well. But the confinement is very difficult, especially over such an extended period of time. There are over 300 Americans, including 49 Floridians on this ship who feel like their country and state are turning their backs on them. There are also many other people on board who need our help. Let's uphold the principles that make us a great nation and be compassionate and humane to other people.

Two cruise ships with dozens of sick passengers on board have received a conditional approval to dock in south Florida. The two ill-fated cruise ships are awaiting word about when the vessels will be allowed to dock at Fort Lauderdale's Port Everglades after a conditional agreement was reached between officials in South Florida and Carnival Cruise Line. Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine tweeted that final terms would be released Thursday. Holland America Line said in an email that they're awaiting confirmation to disembark passengers and “get the nearly 1,200 well guests home immediately," as long as they are fit for travel in accordance with guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. About 10 critically ill passengers would be taken to a hospital in Fort Lauderdale. Four passengers have died. Of the 1,250 passengers between the two ships, there are 311 Americans.
