News service provides information to North Dakota residents

Due to the coronavirus health pandemic, the National Federation of the Blind has made NFB-NEWSLINE, a free audio news service for the blind, low-vision or otherwise print-impaired, available in North Dakota. NFB-NEWSLINE will be providing information about the coronavirus in the "breaking news" category of the news service via telephone. The 60-day service began on March 16.

The COVID-19 information can be found on the telephone by pressing "5" from the main menu, "1" for the breaking news category and "1" again for virus information. If interested parties are using the NFB-NEWSLINE Mobile app, the virus information can be found under the "All Publications" selection.

Access to the NFB-NEWSLINE can be provided through the phone, mobile Apple IOS app, an Amazon Echo and the Victor Reader Stream. Interested parties are to contact NFB of North Dakota State President Jesse Shirek at president@nfbnd.org or by calling 701-781-2526. to register for the program. At the time of registration, interested parties must provide full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address (optional) to complete registration.
