Covid-19: Complete shutdown in Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak for 48 hours

Odisha on Friday announced complete shutdown of its state capital Bhubaneswar and coastal town of Bhadrak, which have reported Covid-19 cases, for 48 hours from 8pm of Friday till 8 pm of Sunday.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha on Friday announced complete shutdown of its state capital Bhubaneswar and coastal town of Bhadrak, which have reported Covid-19 cases, for 48 hours from 8pm of Friday till 8 pm of Sunday.
Announcing the government decision, chief secretary Asit Tripathy said the government took decision was because these two places were reporting coronoa cases.

Of the five tested positive for Covid-19, four are from Bhubaneswar and one from Bhadrak.
Speaking on the shutdown, DGP Abhay said shops of grocery items, essential commodities such as vegetable and fruit shops which were allowed to remain open during the lockdown will remain closed during the 48 hours shutdown. The government will decide on the number of medicine stores to remain open, he said. “It is almost curfew,” the DGP said.
In case of the fifth patient, a 60-year-old man from Bhubaneswar, the government found out that he or his close contacts never travelled outside the city in past some months. For seeking treatment, however, the patient has visited OPDs of two private hospital and AIIMS before getting admitted there.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has also completely sealed the Suryanagar locality where the fifth patient’s residence is located. He is on ventilator support.
