BIDAR: Eleven persons, with connection to the Tablighi Jamaat in New Delhi's Nizamuddin area, were tested positive for coronavirus in Bidar district on Friday.
The Bidar district administration had identified 32 persons who had attended Nizamuddin Markaz.
The Tablighi community is popular among rural and urban poor in north Karnataka due to the region's proximity to Hyderabad in Telangana and Latur in Maharashtra.
The community preachers extensively travel door-to-door in rural pockets propagating their version of Islam.
According to Bidar district administration, among the samples of 26 individuals sent for testing, 11 tested positive. Bidar has now become the latest and the 13th district in the state to have presence of coronavirus. Deputy commissioner (DC) HR Mahadev confirmed the development to ToI.
