The driver of a transport truck was taken to hospital after crashing into the Cataraqui River on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services were called at about 3 p.m. to the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near the Highway 15 interchange, where the transport had smashed through the guardrail and entered the water. The collision ruptured the vehicle’s fuel tanks.

The Ministry of the Environment is assisting with the containment and cleanup of the fuel.
The driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
