COVID-19 testing starts Tuesday in Marshall County

Testing for the novel coronavirus COVID-19 will begin Tuesday at the Marshall County Health Department, 150 Judy Smith Drive, Guntersville.

The testing will take place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, April 14 and April 16. There is no charge.

Appointments must be made by calling 256-582-3656. A physician’s referral is recommended.

To be tested, a person must be:

• Symptomatic, with a fever, cough or shortness of breath;

• Age 65 or older;

• A health care worker;

• Have a condition that places him or her at higher risk, such as pregnancy, chronic lung disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic renal disease, a compromised immune system, a neurologic/neurodevelopmental/intellectual disability or another chronic disease.

Those tested must be 19 or older and must remain in their vehicles when they arrive at the site.
