Local musicians turn to livestream for their fans
Musicians at around the works are turning to livestreaming to engage fans at home. Locally, artist are hopping on the bandwagon.
"It's definitely important to us and all the people stuck at home who maybe don't have anything else to do, and I'm glad we can provide them with that type of entertainment," said Alejandro Gomez, Qien Save band member.
A concert at home debuts a new stage for most artist, a digital spot behind their computer screen.
Salinas-based band Qien Save, live streams every Friday on either Instagram, Facebook or YouTube for their fans. They've recently had to post pone on them due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Gomez said, "we just do these quick little (shows) where we try to make it engaging or interactive. And we ask for donations to help us out. And aside from performances, we wanted to try and get a little more creative with it, do other ones with small music workshops, show you how to do different things on instruments."
Another instrument that is jamming to the livestream beat is DJ Quintin with Pixel Clubhouse in Aptos.
DJ Quintin described his livestreams, "people have said, like oh my God, you made my day by doing this. Especially yesterday with the bunny costume, people were like oh my God I can't believe you're doing this."
DJ Quintin is no stranger to bringing out his turntables for live streaming. He streams at least once a week on Facebook and Twitch TV for the fans cooped up at home.
"I feel like it kind of fills the void, plus it helps people get up and move, hopefully feel a little more positive ," said DJ Quintin.
Positive thoughts, when thinking of others during California's "Stay-at-Home" order.
DJ Quintin said, "I know that right now, with everything happening, the music industry is not doing so great, I think its cool to remember to support musicians, more importantly local musicians."
"Now is the time to buy their record majority of their income come from going live, can't do that right now. Whatever way possible you guys can support us would be wonderful," added Gomez.
