Coronavirus: Ebonyi fumigates markets, public facilities

The Ebonyi State Government, on Sunday, began fumigation of markets and other public facilities across the state as part of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus epidemic in the state.

Governor David Umahi, who commenced the exercise at Margaret Umahi International Market, Abakaliki, noted that the exercise was important and showed his preparedness to secure the lives of all residents of the state.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe, Umahi explained that the exercise became necessary to disinfect public places in order to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus and other deadly diseases.

“It shows government preparedness to secure the lives of its citizens which is one of the constitutional mandates of a leader. Since the outbreak of this global menace called COVID-19, the government and governor of Ebonyi State have taken proactive steps to ensure that this menace is kept far away from Ebonyi State.”
