GAYA: Bihar government has notified Gaya based Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College Hospital as a dedicated treatment centre for Covid-19 patients. As per the government notification issued by Kaushal Kishore, additional secretary, state health department, rapid growth in the number of Covid-19 positive cases was being apprehended and as such the ANMMCH was being notified as a dedicated hospital for coronavirus patients.
The notification further says that Covid patients from the districts of Gaya, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Nawada, Arwal, Rohtas and Kaimur will be treated at the ANMMCH.

As per the 2011 census, the combined population of the seven districts attached to ANMMCH was about 1.47 crore. The hospital, according to its superintendent Dr Vijay Krishna Prasad, has got 544 beds.
Earlier, panic gripped the hospital as breaking multi layer security, a private practitioner of the town intruded into the highly protected Isolation ward of the Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College Hospital on Sunday night and allegedly distributed Ayurvedic medicines to the inmates of the ward. He was subsequently caught and handed over to the police.
The detained doctor has also been quarantined under police watch. Confirming the doctor’s detention, Gaya SSP Rajiv Mishra said that a case would be instituted against the intruding doctor under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code, Epidemic Law and Disaster Management Act. He was awaiting the Hospital Superintendent’s report, said the SSP. The source and supplier of Ayurvedic medicine to the doctor was being ascertained.

According to Dr NK Paswan, deputy superintendent of the Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College Hospital and nodal officer of the anti-coronavirus operations, the said doctor was not on the hospital’s payroll and was engaged in private practice elsewhere in the town.
How he managed to reach the highly protected isolation ward was being enquired. It was also a case of breach in security, conceded Dr Paswan. Medical College police station SHO said that the intruder managed to sneak in the doctor’s uniform.
At least five persons have tested Covid 19 positive in the district. As per records, there were 16 inmates in the hospital’s isolation ward at the time the intruder entered the ward.
As per official records, 14,126 persons have been quarantined in Gaya district. Of the quarantined persons, 11,832 are under home quarantine, while another 2,294 have been put at quarantine centres.
