technical colleges in the state alleged that majority of educational institutes paid only 50%
salary for March. A few colleges assured to pay arrears of March, April and May between June and August, while others did not give any time frame for paying salaries of the faculty.
“I received only 50% salary. Management just sent a message saying the pending amount will be released in due course,” a lecturer, working at an engineering college told TOI.
The
Telangana Technical Institutions Employees Association said at least 80% of colleges paid only 50% salaries this month.Meanwhile, managements said they were not in a position to pay as fee reimbursement dues were pending since 2018.
“Colleges/institutes are informed to take care of the welfare of the faculty during the
lockdown period with regard to payment of full salaries regularly and not terminating them, failing which the university shall initiate stern and stringent action against the erring institutes as per the university affiliation norms,” JNTU-Hyderabad, to which technical colleges were affiliated, said in a circular late on Tuesday.
