Amid prevalent chaos and uncertainty over access to the essential services and commodities during the lockdown, we bring you the latest updates from your city.
*PTI update at 10.30pm: 49 fresh cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Telangana on Wednesday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state cumulatively to 453. The number of active cases in the state was 397 as 45 people have been discharged from hospitals after recovery, state Health Minister E Rajender told reporters.
*Update at 9.30pm: The Telangana high court on Wednesday made it clear that it will not do anything that would demoralise the police force at the current juncture where the police men are struggling to enforce the lockdown norms for the larger good of the society but advised the authorities to ensure that the police would initially inquire into the reasons orally as to why people found on the roads have come out.
That would be better rather than straightaway beating them, said a bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice T Amarnath Goud while hearing a PIL filed by advocate Umesh Chandra that alleged that the police were using excessive force on people.
*Update at 8.20pm: 348 coronavirus cases in Andhra Pradesh now. Another 19 cases since morning
*PTI update at 7.40pm: Citing short supply of personal protection equipment (PPE) from the Telangana government, junior doctors in the state on Wednesday started seeking donations to buy them in the open market. JUDA (Junior Doctors Association) president Dr K U N Vishnu said though the state government is trying to supply the PPE which consists of eyewear, skullcap covering face, N-95 mask, below knee-level gown, footwear and gloves, they are not sufficient to meet the demands.

*Update at 6.45pm: Vizag: Govt Gen Hospital Ananthpur and DCHS Ananthpur confirmed that 4 health stuff including 2 junior docs and 2 nurses tested positive. They contracted coronavirus from a patient whose family hid the travel history initially. Health staff on duty near him did not suspect his covid positive status initially and were not using N-95 or surgical masks.
*Update at 5.30pm: 348 active coronavirus cases in Telangana, including 150 from Hyderabad
*Update at 5.10pm: For the first time in AP, a doctor tested positive for coronavirus at Ananthpur government hospital. The 23-year-old house surgeon was dealing with coronavirus patients and one of the patients died 3 days ago. When he got himself tested, results came positive.
*Update at 5.00pm: Three coronavirus patients cured and discharged in Visakhapatnam. Total number of patients discharged so far: 4
*PTI update at 4.45pm: Two brothers have been arrested for allegedly abusing and not sharing information with women health personnel while they were conducting a survey as part of measures to check the spread of coronavirus in Vikarabad district in Telangana, police said on Wednesday.
*Update at 4.05pm: In order to treat people in rural areas especially the ones who do not have access to doctors, T - CONSULT" Project was launched on Monday in Makthal mandal, Narayanpet district. “With lockdown, its apt in a situation where people need not step out to consult a doctor,” read a statement issued by Narayanpet District Collectorate. Chinna Jeeyar Swamy launched the project through video call, the services also include AYUSH consulting services. Citizen can book appointment with doctors of their choice and specialty through the tele consult facility mediated by panachyat level officials. Doctors will interact with patients and provide prescription, which can be printed too.
*The demand for fruits and vegetables has doubled in Visakhapatnam city following the lockdown.
*Andhra Pradesh government is set to procure three lakh testing kits, which can give results within 90 minutes, whereas currently it is taking six hours to test. They will be available in the next 10 days.
*The Drug Control Administration (DCA) has given permission to two distilleries in Andhra Pradesh to produce alcohol-based hand sanitisers to meet rising demand in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Both distilleries are registered under the excise department.
*Muslim body donates personal protective equipment (PPE) to doctors

*Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner directed surveillance teams to intensify the door-to-door survey to identify Covid-19 cases.
*Greater Nalgonda NRIs group is working with district administration in Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri to support to migrants, homeless and others in need. The group is providing food, and PPE kits to first responders.
*Andhra Pradesh governor Biswabhusan Harichandan has decided to donate 30 per cent of his salary for one year to the PM CARES fund.
* Update at 10.37am: ANI quotes Andhra Pradesh nodal officer Arja Srikanth: 15 new coronavirus positive cases reported in the state from 6pm on Tuesday till 9am today - 6 each in Nellore and Krishna and 3 in Chittoor. The total number of positive cases in the state is 329 (including 6 discharged persons and 4 deaths).
